The main rail head of Chittaranjan town lies on the Howrah-Patna-Mughalsarai main line which is approximately 237 km away from Howrah. The code of the Chittaranjan Railway Station is CRJ. This rail head is linked to all the major cities of India via Delhi-Kolkata main line through the route of Mugalsarai-Patna. Earlier the name of the rail head was Mihijam which was later renamed as the Chittaranjan Station after the foundation of Chittaranjan Locomotive Works. This rail head is geologically situated at Mihijam which falls under the Dist. Jamtara in Jharkhand, however Chittaranjan’s township comes under West Bengal.
